The Clock:

Sam and Cassie: Cassie is putting some flowers around the kitchen when Sam comes down, ready to go to work. Cassie soon realizes that his old watch is not working and he tells her that maybe it is time for a new watch. Cassie smiles telling him that she would miss that watch because he was wearing it the night that they met. Sam smiles joking about her throwing away the jeans that he was wearing that night and Cassie smiles saying they were ripped, but Sam jokes telling her that they were in style. Cassie smiles saying that they were just old. In that moment, Joy comes down and Sam kisses Cassie and goes to work. When Cassie arrives back from the state sale she goes directly into the living room to give Sam what she has brought for him. She sees that he is thinking about starting a program about service dogs in the hospital and smiles saying it's a great idea. Then Cassie gives him her gift and Sam smiles seeing the watch, and Cassie jokes telling him that it had his name on it, but Sam looks at the watch seeing the inscription and jokes saying it actually doesn't. Cassie smiles saying that she likes the inscription and Sam smiles saying thank you and kissing her. At the end, Sam comes back home and Cassie smiles knowing he doesn't have the watch anymore. She takes out his old watch and gives it to him leaving Sam surprised that she fixed it. Sam smiles seeing the inscription she made on it, and tells her thank you. They cuddle on the couch smiling. - Joy: she enjoys catching up with Abigail and Cassie getting to know them better. When Joy needs a watch for Martha´s house Cassie invites her to come with Abigail and her to a state sale and she agrees smiling. Joy sees the perfect clock at the state sale, but someone buys it first, she tries to talk to the young man, Carter, to buy it from him but he says no. Later she, Abigail and Cassie meet Carter at a bar where Joy challenges him to a dart game to win the watch back. Carter agrees but tells her that if he wins she will give him her truck since his car is broken and Joy agrees, sure that she will win. Joy tries to do a little magic to win, but at the end loses. Joy is complaining about losing, telling her cousins that "she did what she needed to do" but Cassie makes her realize that "she did what she wanted to do, not exactly what she needed". In the end Carter didn't leave with her truck and they went back home. LESSONS: is not right to manipulate things for them to be like you want them to be - Abigail and Donovan: Donovan is a little mad because Abigail doesn't remember their song, Abigail keeps trying for him to tell him the song but he wants her to find out for herself. During her trip with Cassie and Joy, they enter a bar with an old song machine and she finds out Cassie knows the song, so begs her to tell her. Cassie gives Abigail a letter and a number but Abigail doesn't remember that song at all... Later when she is back with Donovan helping her prepare his mayor speech, Donovan´s screen laptop goes black and he says to press a letter + a number (the same ones Cassie told her too) she starts thinking about that song and Donovan recognizes for his family trips when he was kid, giving him the inspiration he needs for his speech. Then it suddenly starts raining and Donovan says "that came out of nowhere" which is the same thing he said on their first date and which makes Abigail remember that day and their song. Later they dance the song hugging and smiling. LESSONS: no matter what the important and meaningful moments will always come back, you sometimes just need to give people some time - Stephanie and Adam: when Stephanie´s ex husband is back in town to sell a cabin they both own, Adam gets a little jealous. Stephanie goes to the cabin to pack some things and remember some old memories with Wes. Later Adam admits to her that he was a little jealous but Stephanie tells him that he has nothing to worry about, that a part of her will always feel something for Wes because of everything that they went through together, but she loves him. LESSONS: always trust your partner and make them know you trust them - Sam´s patients: Sam has a patient that is very worried about her surgery, taking her dog with her. Sam tries to calm her down, not making it. On the other hand, he has another patient that refuses to do the exercises he needs to get better. But when her dog escapes and goes directly to his other patient´s room Sam realizes that they know each other and they tell him that they were married. When they start to argue about him losing her gift for their anniversary, a watch with an inscription, Sam realizes it is the watch Cassie gave him and returns it to him, smiling. They try to pay him for it but Sam just smiles telling them that he is happy they got it back. At the end, they make each other company and the woman relaxes about the surgery and the man starts to do the exercises he needs to. LESSONS: the important things will always find a way to come back to you. Sometimes people just need some time apart to realize how important they are for each other - Martha and her friend: one of Martha´s friends comes to catch up with her and she is an author of books. She tells Martha she should write about her life too because she always makes everyone laugh and Martha takes this very seriously and starts writing her life book. Martha reads some books to get inspiration but realizes that her life isn't as exciting as the ones from the women she is reading about so start making things up to make the book more interesting. At the end, she asks Cassie for some opinion and wants to read the book to her when Joy appears to tell her that she couldn't get the clock. Martha says that is ok and invites Joy to join the reading. When Martha starts reading, Cassie and Joy are surprised not being aware of everything they heard, but Martha later admits that she made some things up... Cassie and Joy look at her with a disapproving face and Martha says that "she did what she needed to do". Joy smiles remembering Cassie´s lesson and tells Martha that "she did what she wanted to do, not exactly what she needed" this makes Martha think and admits it's true. Joy smiles telling her that she is just passing some Merriwick filosophy, leaving Martha surprised because she is not a Merriwick but when Cassie smiles and nods, Martha jumps smiling realizing that Joy is part of the Merriwick family. LESSONS: always try to help your friends and let them know you are there for them no matter what. Is not right to manipulate things for them to be like you want them to be As you can see, all are examples of real life situations.
